Coorong National Park
The national park was formed in 1967 as a sanctuary for many species of birds, animals and fish. It attracts many migratory species. It provides refuge for these animals during some of Australia’s regular droughts. It also supports coastal dune systems, lagoons and coastal vegetation.
One of the unique aspects of the Coorong is the interaction of water along its length, with sea water and Murray River water meeting rainfall and groundwater. The freshwater supports the fauna (animal) of the area while the sea water is the habitat for much of the birdlife.
We were delighted to meet, Peter and Steffi, from Leipzig Germany. They have visited Australia many times and have traveled all around our country. We had a wonderful night around the fire, and shared many stories. We arranged to keep in touch and invited them to stay with us in Melbourne.

Abend am Lagerfeuer und tauschten viele Geschichten aus. Wir verabredeten uns, in Kontakt zu bleiben, und luden sie ein, uns in Melbourne zu besuchen. 
Peter & Steffi, spent a few days with us in Melbourne, where we showed them the Dandenongs and Melbourne. We look forward to seeing them again in Germany or Australia.
