Leaving the glitz of Queensland and its beautiful beaches on the Gold Coast, we hit the road to Coffs Harbour, in glorious weather.

Over 300 klm further south, we arrive and are staying at the same caravan park with Jo, (Donovans mum & Peter ). Great to catch up. A lovely park. Peter and Jo, who have retired in the last few years, hit the road in a caravan, and travel between the Northern NSW Coast, and Victoria. North for the southern winter, and return back to Melbourne in the spring for our summer.

Timber and agriculture was the main economy for Coffs, over recent years, tourism has become very important. A big banana growing area.

Good size town of 80,000. Lovely climate of hot wet summers, and mild short winters.

Caught up with Michael Gow whilst in Coffs Harbour. Michael has a long history of kidney failure, and has been in hospital for sometime. Michael who lived in our court, moved up to Taree 10 years ago, to be close with his children and grandchildren.

Great to catch up again Michael.

The road bridge in Taree

After a lovely few days, we continue our journey south towards Karuan, at the entrance to where the Karuan River meets Pot Stephens.

Whilst in Karuan, caught up with friends, Bob and Kath. I worked with Bob who at that time lived in Newcastle, but has since retired and lives in Pindimar on Port Stephens.

Berrima NSW

Berrima is an historic village in NSW, between Bowral and Moss Vale just off the Hume Highway. European settlement dates from the 1830’s.

We have stayed here a number of times, and is a favourite. We stayed in a council park with room for four vans on the river bank of the Wingecarribee River.

There are many historic buildings in the village, including the oldest continuously licensed pub in Australia. Close to many other places of interest.

Next stop Canberra, to stay with family.

The winter blossoms are out.

Short break in Jugiong, then home.
